Abstract
Staging of carcinoma of the urinary bladder is important for the choice of therapy and also has prognostic implications. Computed tomography(CT) is a very convenient and noninvasive method in the staging of bladder carcinoma as CT gives an
accurate
information of extension of tumor outside the bladder into the neighboring structures and pelvic side walls. CT is also a very useful method in determination of lymph node status or distant metastases,
We performed the comparative study between CT staging and pathologic staging in 42 cases of bladder cancer. Overall accuracy of CT staging of bladder carcinoma was 76%, overstaging by CT was 19% and understaging was 5%.
